Dear All
This ride will start at 10am from Redhill Aerodrome. If anyone would like to come along to the Aerodrome at 9am to show kids just how many club riders from the 'adult branch' turn up each week it might inspire them! You can then retreat to the Cafe for an hour for tea, toast, full English cooked breakfasts etc. At 10am, we will depart for a ride out towards the Club's Time Trial circuit at Horne and a lap or two before returning to the Aerodrome for more tea, toast and full English breakfasts!
Any questions? Feel free to email me at Chairman<at>redhillcc.co.uk or give me a call in the evenings on the numbers above. Thanks.
Adrian
John's original blurb below...
Something new for older riders this winter: fortnightly rides out on the roads… and the quiet ones at that.
Two coaches, Adrian Webb and Tim Sales, were invited to take on alternate rides.
The result of that is that they turn out once a month while you get the chance to ride once a fortnight.
Each coach will chose where he wants to start and at what time..... so be warned that the software that governs this website demanded that I put a time in the little box... so I've opened play by typing 10am across the board…but don’t believe it until the time is confirmed.
The idea is to do rides of around 25miles. No pressure. Nice and gentle... lovely scenery!
We will ride with parents and even some of the adult cyclists who belong to Redhill Cycling Club... ones who opt to tag along with us.
Having parents on board is part of the deal..... so get your bikes out... we'll need you in the group with your child.
Also we'll need to get you to sign (another) parental consent form as being on the open road is deemed as being different from playground sessions.
If you've never been to a Raiders session before then we have no idea of your child's capabilities.... so please don't descend on us out of the blue.... rather, you should wait until we've seen your child on our skills circuit at Furzefield and he/she has had the thumbs-up.
If there is a world of difference between your ability (as a parent on a bike that is) and that of your child’s cycling ability then you will need to contact me (John Leitch) beforehand to see if we will consider/take on a child-only proposal.... we had one parent phoning up in advance of a ride some time ago and we struck a no-parent -riding deal.
We will not 'lose' any rider.... if necessary we will adjust our speed and we will revise our planned distance in order to suit all those in our group of youngsters.
Details for this ride... further information from Adrian or Tim later.
You will need
A helmet
A road bike in full working order
Appropriate clothing for the time of year... for example ......gloves, headwear, jacket and a waterproof
So.....no flapping trousers that might get caught up in your pedals or chain
A puncture repair kit
An ability to change a tyre/patch a punctured inner tube
... and....
.... a willingness to help your parent if they are the ones suffering
