Jo Matthews picked up her trophy yesterday as the 2015 Girl - Redhill Raiders' Rider of the Year winner.

The location was Leigh as a group of older riders gathered for a monthly session where we divide into various ability groups, riding at different speeds, using a short two-mile loop based on Gadbrook Road.

In fact for this session we almost exclusively used Gadbrook Road itself for some of the older individuals who were working in pairs, practicing sprints behind a lead-out rider.... Jo and Alistair Canning (2014 Rider of the Year - Boy) were teamed with Matthew Ferguson and Jamie Pullen, switching teams from time to time.

Full laps were the order of the day for Annabel Canning and her mum Kim who were joined by a second mum, Jane Ainsworth, plus a sibling which seemed to change each lap... Adam, then Matthew, then James.

Louis McLeod and Alex Wright failed to wear out Danyel Pullen, one of the dad champions.

A second dad, Ted Bright,  worked on lapping on his own while his son Christian set himself the task of seeing how much faster his time-trial bike goes than his road bike, so he did a timed lap on one then the other with Nick Gill trying to keep him honest by snapping at his heels.... to be valid he should have done 50 laps on each, I'd say, switching bikes each lap, so much more work needed there Christian.
