The plan for a social back in January got delayed, blocking the opportunity to make a Rider of the Year award for 2009.
 
But we caught up and did the award announcement at the Raiders' session on Sunday 21 March so that the winnner could show it off by wearing it at the Tilgate Forest event the following week if he should wish... as well as at the next Raiders' session.
 
And it was George Sales who got to don the green top.
 
Since we first started Raiders 18 months ago, George has been a constant presence. His never-failing enthusiasm and smiles and willingness to show new-comers how to do everything have been a benefit to all.
 
Ask for a demonstration from anyone and George's hand is in the air.... from showing newcomers the challenge of riding in pairs with one person riding one-handed with the other hand on the second rider's nearest shoulder.... to pedalling into a 'stop box', halting the bike and then moving on without putting a foot on the ground.... and without falling over.
