It was fitting that in a year when Redhill Raiders have pushed to expand the offerings for older riders that the Rider of the Year (Boy) and the Rider of the Year (Girl) were the two members who have been the biggest supporters of everything on offer 'out there'.
 
 
In previous winters, the schoolground at Furzefield was almost exculusively where young riders gathered, but the confined space was clearly restricting the progress of the older members.
 
 
Hence the push to find a calendar of both off-road (for MTBs) and road rides for those aged 10-16 years.
 
 
Freddie Davy and his older sister Maddy have been the biggest supporters of everything we've offered in 2011.... just tell them what's happening and they'll be there.
 
 
And on top of that.... when there were gaps in our Raiders timetable, they went out as a family group with the adults on one or other of the Redhill Cycling Club weekend rides.
 
 
The mid-week rides during half-term weeks and also during term holidays have attracted a regular group of 'keen as mustard' riders who want to get more miles in.... and who want to do them at a full-on pace.
 
 
Yes you've guessed it.... Freddie and Maddy have been in the forefront on these rides as well.
